To celebrate the release of the fourth book in the Amaranthine series I am hosting ten days of giveaways on this blog! Each day from, May 22 – 31, I will post a tiny excerpt of the fourth book and a prize. To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment with your email address on the blog and you will be automatically entered to win the prize being given away in that blog post! (yes, that means to enter for all ten prizes you have to comment on each of the ten blogs.) If you’re not comfortable leaving your address in a comment, please email it to m at Joleene (at) JoleeneNaylor.com and be sure to let me know which blog you’re entering for. Random.org will pick the winners on June 4th. I will contact the winners for your mailing address and send the prizes shortly after.

Day Ten:
Jorick stopped suddenly and picked something up from the bed. “What’s this?”
“What’s what?”
He slowly unfolded his clenched fingers to reveal the silver cross; Velnya’s cross. “Where did you get this?”
She snatched it away from him and dropped her eyes, her cheeks pink. “I found it in the fireplace.”
“Why didn’t you leave it there? If you want jewelry I’ll get you some. Now, give me that and I’ll throw it away.” Though his words were casual, something in his eyes made Katelina’s chest twist painfully.
.
One lucky winners will get a “silver*” cross on a length of ribbon, all in a snazzy gift box:
The ribbon is long enough that the winner can adjust it to desired length.
Good luck and thanks for stopping by! This is the last giveaway, and winners for all ten will be drawn June 4th, so if you haven’t yet, be sure to check out the other Ten Days of Giveaways blogs!
If you were Katelina, would you keep the cross, or throw it away? (I’ll share the most interesting answers(s) on facebook.)
*not REAL silver. Just silver colored. 😉
Crystal Young
/ May 31, 2012I would be tempted to throw it away but I would keep it as it meant something to Jorick.
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012good answer, Crystal 🙂
sharonstogner
/ May 31, 2012that is a hard choice! I would keep it, but put it somewhere safe. 🙂
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012What? you mean a pocket is not somewhere safe? LOL! Gotta love Katelina sometimes 😉
sienny
/ May 31, 2012i think i’ll keep it. it’s obviously something important, or at least meaningfull
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012Thanks, Sienny! Being a pack rat, I know I’d end up keeping it, too!
alicia
/ May 31, 2012Even though looking at it would be a constant reminder I believe Id keep it to show Jorick that she accepts his past and isnt jealous of what he once had with his wife.

alicia
/ May 31, 2012Besides you cant throw away your past.
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012Good answer, Alicia! 😀
jennifer gruenberg
/ May 31, 2012I would keep it but i wouldn’t have hid it. Velnya should be remembered because she is part of the reason Jorick is who he is today. His love for her and loss should be remembered. syndiasia@yahoo.com
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012Very true, Jennifer! She should put it on a chain and wear it, I think! 🙂
amy owen
/ May 31, 2012I’d keep it. I understand why she keeps it, it does seem rather sad to completely erase someone and Katelina may have a little guilt as well because of the destruction of the “shrine.” Plus, I bet it makes her wonder what would happen if she were to die. Would she be erased too? Or would Jorick pine for her like he pined for Velnya? Besides, for good or ill, Velnya was a part of Jorick’s life for a long time and as previous posts have stated, you can’t throw away OR change the past. blueridgephotos@yahoo.com
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012It does seem sad, doesn’t it, Amy? if I were her I would certainly worry, especially since Jorick is going to keep living forever (potentially)!
Ranena
/ May 31, 2012I would keep it even thought i would want to throw it away simply because it is a symbol of love and she knows how much Jorick loved Velnya. He has also expressed his love for her so she knows how capable of love he is. Plus is reminds her they all have pasts and it makes them who they are and they shouldnt be forgotten.
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012Good answer, Ranena! 😀
Sydney Cordova
/ May 31, 2012I would keep it because it would show that you respect Jorick s past but still want to be his futrue. Sydsydcordoba@sbcglobal.net
thejissilly

PS Johnathon is right. Fireplace jewelry totally is up for grabs. Too funny!!!!!
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012I know, right?! And I can;t help but wonder, was she wearing it when… well, you know… 😉
Wendy
/ June 1, 2012I am wondering why he threw it away, hmm? I would keep it and try to figure out why his past still bothers him so much. I dont think we have the full story yet. And if i were Katelina i would find out! Nothing worse than old baggage.
Joleene Naylor
/ June 1, 2012This is very true, Wendy! I think Jorick has a LOT of old baggage!
DM Yates
/ June 1, 2012I would definitely keep it! Although it’s very brave of her to face Jorick with such an answer. That is a most precious gift to give away!
Joleene Naylor
/ June 2, 2012I admit i am proudest of the box – i did the decoupage lite (only 2 layers lol!) myself 🙂
