Kindelgraph: Not Just for Kindle Anymore!

In August, I posted about the very cool Kindlegraph, a site that lets authors autograph Kindle books for their fans. At the time, it was only compatible with Kindle devices but now *drum roll* not only does it have a new name – Authorgraph – but, in their own words:

…readers can now receive digital inscriptions from their favorite authors regardless of which digital reading app or device they use…

How cool is that? So, if you want your digital book signed, go check out http://www.authorgraph.com and see if the author has signed up already (thousands have, including yours truly!) and if they haven’t, why not send them a note and say “hey, this is cool!”?

And if you’re so inclined, they even have widgets you can add to your blog or website! If you’re logged in you can get it here: http://www.authorgraph.com/tools  – and unlike most sites it has a WordPress version – yippee! Here’s what it looks like:

  2. Thank you, Jo, for this most excellent service!!!! Admittedly, I wasn’t sold on it in August when limited to only Kindle editions. However, now that it’s open to all platforms, I’m hooked. All my novels are set up in authorgraph.

You know, there’s only one thing that doesn’t seem yet quite right: To add a book, it’s still restricted to a book-identification number that is unique to Amazon (ABIN), whereas other sites accept the ISBN generated on Smashwords.com. So, it’s really still Kindle-specific, right? Or, am I missing something?

    Thanks again!

  3. An interesting discovery … Once your book(s) are added into authorgraph, you will receive one “pending request” right away for a personalized inscription. With my ego raging, I anxiously clicked the button to see who (already) wanted my autograph (oh, beating heart, be still). Joke’s on me: It was from Evan – the owner of Authorgraph. Wow, he knows how to stroke an ego. I fell for it and clicked the button, and then dutifully proceeded to complete the little text box which then generated a personal message from me to Evan (tied to my novel “Legacy.”

You get it yet? The guy’s brilliant: He offers a free service that strokes an author’s ego, and he only asks for a signature in return. Well, let’s do the math: Already thousands of authors have signed up for authorgraph, which means Evan is already sitting on (probably) thousands of autographs. Let’s just say that one is a homerun, a dozen titles experience mediocre success, and the rest are duds. He will, over time, collect extremely valuable signatures and personal messages. Kudos to you, Evan, for letting us help you fund your retirement account. 😀

    • Hi LC, hope your okay! I saw your info on the same screens as we must have added our books within a few mins of each other! I had the same issues, i had tried to add some of the ASIN’s and it said ;there was a problem’ and would be looked into. I then went to Amazon, copied the details from the screen page and it seemed to work. That said i have now got a couple of books up with 2 pictures, though i had thought this was the kindle ( ebook) version and also the paperback, but i could be wrong.

I kept looking for where the signature was going to be placed used too, took me a while to realize it was under my name at the top right hand corner ( having to click on it). Had to laugh as i coudnt sign with my finger on the screen ( thought Jo did it this way ha ha ), and using the mouse made my signature look like a 2 year olds!! So i used the prompt signature instead – not orginal so Evan might not make to much for his retirement from me. Great to connect … and Jo is a real star for the help / support she gives isn’t she.

Have a great weekend all, cheers Dave

  4. Thanks for the info. I’d love to do it, the only thinng is, first I have to get people to read my books. No pressure then.

I haven’t had an author sign a kindle book for me yet, but it sounds interesting!

    • It’s a lot of fun, I think! I mean, I doubt the signatures will ever be worth much, but who knows as digital media becomes more and more accepted as something tangible. 🙂

      Thanks for the reblog!
