To Immortalize or Not… The Poll Results!

The poll results are in, and it looks like the majority of voters want Katelina to…. stay human!

katelina

  • There’s no rush. I like her being human.           23%
  • After they defeat Malick, but before the next bad guy(s)        14%
  • book 5 – come on already and get it over with!        11%
  • right before they defeat Malick       11%
  • You should have already done it!         9%
  • book 6 – we can wait a little longer        9%
  • I don’t care. Whenever.       7%
  • In the last book of the series      7%
  • In book 7     5%
  • In the next to the last book in the series     5%
  • Never. Kill her off at the end.     0%

In an unofficial poll, interestingly enough, the romantics were out in force and voted that Jorick should be the one to turn her. Will they get their way? We shall have to wait and see but, for now, she is still human, anyway.  Now, back to work!

  1. Those results are so varied. At first glance, it looks like most people want her human but then the other votes add up, too. Guess you’re going to have to let the characters guide you on this one. 😀 And I’m one of the people who wanted Jorick to turn her. I think it’s the idea that he wants her to be with him forever…though I don’t know if forever is as romantic as it seems when you think of putting up with someone’s quirks forever (hehe).

    • yeah, I know what you mean! But she’s staying human for now anyway, which is just as well because after I started writing the scene where she could have gotten turned it didn’t work that way anyway, LOL!

  2. Tough poll, but in the end the writer has total control. Or is that vampires have total control?

  3. How does that compare with your own thoughts? – and Were you surprised at the results? Polls can be great fun – sometimes they are fairly predictable but it can be a bit disconcerting if the majority view is completely different to what you have expected!

    • I actually like her human for some plot points, but then again, having her a vampire would make others easier… I was actually a bit surprised as I figured the general consensus would be to get it over with already 😉

  4. I hope she stays human. After the dumb-dumb doppelganger gal from Vampire Diaries and the moody chick from Twilight, I’m starting to wonder what the heck is going on. Keep this up and there won’t be enough females left on the earth to keep it populated for vampire food.

    • well one thing is for sure, if she gets made a vampire she’s not going to be instantly perfect ala twilight. That was soooooo stupid. I couldn’t even stand the rest of the book after that because it was so jarring and contrived..

I don’t really care when she becomes a vampire, but I love the idea of Micah being the one to do it. He’s powerful, but not too powerful and he doesn’t care much about anything at the end of the day, so he wont hold a blood debt over Katelina’s head. Loren is too weak, I don’t want Katelina to be too useless. Plus, he did offer…

Yes please!!!! Love Jorick, but that’s too “Twilight”…

    • Plus I worry that Jorick would make her *too* powerful of a fledgling – unless she really is such a nit she somehow doesn’t inherit everything… having her read minds could be a pain. I;ve written main characters who are mind readers and it takes a LOT of the mystery out of things.
