Indie Author Book Expo

Last weekend I attended the IABE in Des Moines at the Valley West Mall and had a great time, so I thought I’d share some photos for those who couldn’t make it!

I was super lucky and Amy came to help me with my table Saturday!

What table you ask? This table!

Speaking of Amy, she talked me into vamping it up and thanks to her I got a lot of compliments!

We had a lot of people stop in, including the awesome Kay! It was so exciting to meet her!

She wasn’t the only one in town. I also met Sharon, who I used to be in several online groups with, and Amy and I ran into Jonathan!

Heh-heh. A little zombie humor because, you know, he’s a zombie, and that’s a zombie… *cough* Moving on, here’s the random views from my table on day one:

We did discover a great way to draw people to the table. Chocolate! No, we didn’t give it away, we just ate it, but every time we had a piece, someone would stop by.

Despite the snack, Amy and I spent a long time looking for lunch. Okay, no, SHE spent a long time looking because she is a saint, while I sat at the table. In the end we went with Blaze Pizza. OMG! So good!

And thus ended day 1.

Sadly, Amy had to go home, so I had to do day 2 without her. BOO!

But the show must go on, so on it went

While we were all setting up, I did dash around and take pics of the Sunday attendees.

Once people started coming in, I pretty much stayed put, except during the author panel

And of course I did a couple of Facebook Live videos:

And that’s all she wrote! Tomorrow I’ll draw for the winner of the plushie vampire, so you have until then to sign up for the newsletter if you want a chance.

All in all it was a great expo with some great authors! Looking forward to next year, and am even thinking about the comic con put on by the Des Moines Comic Book Club in November. We’ll see!

I saw the pictures popping up on facebook. Looks like an AWESOME time!

  6. It sounds like you had a lot of fun! I sat on an author panel once, and I really enjoyed it. I miss the conferences, but the money’s kind of tight right now. One of the most fun things about conferences is meeting fellow authors!

  7. Everything looks SO awesome! I definitely would’ve come to your booth!! (And not just because of the chocolate)

  8. this looks like paradise! where was this?? I’m an indie author myself and I wanted to support others and also try to get the word out about my own works!!!! What do you write??
