#FirstLineFriday (Chapter Twenty-Four)

FLFIt’s time for #FirstLineFriday! On Friday, authors post the first one or first two lines of a potential work, a work-in-progress, or a published work  on their blog, and title the post #FirstLineFriday (just like this). It’s  a lot of fun, so feel free to join in! You can share your link on my blog comments, or on Rami Ungar’s (the brains behind FLF).

Today’s first line comes from Chapter Twenty-Four of Masque of the Vampire – which is available  at all ebook retailers:

Katelina turned to the entrance as the double doors blew open in a shower of wood shards. The vampires around her gasped and spun towards the destruction, all eyes focused on the figure in the gaping doorway.

As you probably guessed, this is the opening to the final fight scene. Hurray! It also means it’s the final chapter.

What do you think? What’s your first line for the week?

And read:

William – As William gets ready for his journey to Canada, he takes a trip down memory lane. Can he ever forgive the Executioners for what they did?

Diana – When Diana’s son Des comes home in a funk, she lets him pout for a few days, but now it’s time to make him snap out of it.

Urian – After two years of sharing his lover with a young fledgling, Urian is at the limit of what he can stand.

Anya – When her brother went missing, she never expected to see him again. Now he’s back, and a cripple. Can she cope?

Möngkedai  – Traveling by airplane is always boring; almost as boring as immortality can be, unless you know the secret to a long happy life.

Rangvald – Though Rangvald long ago came to terms with the fact that his mate is trapped in the body of a fourteen year old, she hasn’t.

Brandle – One of the new faces at Andrei’s party catches Brandle’s eye, but can he get her to relax long enough to talk to him?

Eagan – Eagan is just trying to be friendly, but it seems like he never says the right thing. Maybe he should give up socializing?

Trevor – As a servant for Callise and Saul, Trevor’s life is easy and comfortable, but it wasn’t always that way.

Lykke  – Lykke and her lover Edvard are happy together, but their personalities couldn’t be more different.

Jome – A quest for information takes a strange turn, and Jome finds himself in the red nailed hands of the sexy Trivila.

Ren – Born without pigmentation in a superstitious time, Tol and Ren spent their lives believing they might be half demons.

#FirstLineFriday (Chapter Twenty-Three)

Today’s first line comes from Chapter Twenty-Three of Masque of the Vampire – which is available  at all ebook retailers:

Katelina found Jorick in a back entry hall, flipping through a stack of paperwork. He excused himself and joined her.

It’s not super exciting, but it gets the job done.

What do you think? What’s your first line for the week?

Today’s first line comes from Chapter Twenty-Two of Masque of the Vampire – which is available  at all ebook retailers:

Katelina got ready for bed. She hadn’t seen Sarah all day, and her friend’s bedroom was sill deserted

Yeah, it’s a boring one. While editing the book, I did backtrack and rearrange some of the early chapters so they have better beginnings, alas this was not one of them. But, they can’t all start mid fight scene.

What do you think?

What’s your first line for the week?

*This post was scheduled in advance, so this may no longer be the first line of the chapter.

#FirstLineFriday (Chapter Twenty)

FLFSpring is in the air! Or it’s supposed to be. Either way, it’s time for #FirstLineFriday! On Friday, authors post the first one or first two lines of a potential work, a work-in-progress, or a published work  on their blog, and title the post #FirstLineFriday (just like this). Today’s first line comes from Chapter Twenty of Masque of the Vampire (available for pre-order with an April 1st release date) :

Katelina looked for Ark at breakfast. The haughty vampire was nowhere in sight, and she relaxed.

These are as boring as the last two. I may need to break the chapters up differently.

What do you think?

What’s your first line for the week?

#FirstLineFriday (Chapter Nineteen)

FLF

feel free to snag this for your own posts!

And it’s time for First Line Friday – the day when you share a first line from something you’re working on, have published, or maybe just jotted down. To participate, title your post #FirstLineFriday (hashtag and all) and feel free to share your link on my blog or on Rami Ungar’s (the brains behind #FLF)

Today’s first line is from Chapter Nineteen of my novel in progress, Masque of the Vampire.

A quick check revealed all their suspects were at breakfast, except William. Katelina wasn’t sure how much more proof Jorick needed.

This is another of those sort of “mid thought” beginnings where you really need the chapter before to know what’s going on, but it’s not mind numbing, anyway.

Or is it? What do you think? What’s your first line for the week?

Have a good one!
