9-10-11 Ties of Blood is officially available on e-book!

Despite my being sick and out most of the week, Ties of Blood, book 3 in the Amaranthine series, is now officially available on Smashwords – just barely squeaking in at the last minute!

Don’t want to read it on the PC? No problem! Smashwords sells copies for Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo, and most e-reading apps including Stanza, Aldiko, Adobe Digital Editions, and others! Just download the appropriate version.

Wanna wait? no problem! Go here to read sample chapters and more!

The paperback will be following along – I have to wait for the proof to arrive (yes, again) so I can double check it before I approve it. Look for it in roughly four weeks.

Instead of putting the book description in here, I thought I’d take a moment to thank some people instead!

My husband, who is just as twisted as I am and maybe more so. I love you.

My mother, who knows the books better than I do and continues to re-read every time I re-write.

My brother, who happens to be one of my favorite people in the world. Also, to my father  – hey, vampire books are way more fun than politics! . And, of course my “UK representative” Rick and his miniature zoo.

Carolyn “Mighty Ed” Cason for once again stepping up and attempting to smack this manuscript into shape.

Jonathan Harvey for all of his bazillion distractions. If you want to waste time he’ll find you a million ways to do it. He also has a book (though there are no vampires in it).

My beta readers extraordinaire: Sharon, Julie, Steve, Super Schnurpel and Kathy.  Good beta readers are hard to find and you guys are worth a million!

Paul V. Montesino, PhD, fellow author and all around standup guy for his Spanish translation. He saved Jorge from being a victim of online translators!

Ruth Anne Nordin, fellow writer and friend for her encouragement to me and so many others.

Daniel Kennedy who pops up now and again, and who is to blame for this whole series.

Susan “The Ever Delightful” Koenig way up there in Canada for her great suggestions and the smiles she brings.

The awesome gals at Indie Authors Unite, even though I have been absent lately.

And to everyone else who’s encouraged me over the last year. You have no idea how much a kind word can mean!

Lastly, a special thank you to God. Who says he doesn’t love a good vampire book?

*whew*  Look for website updates sometime this week, too, and maybe even a newsletter! *gasp*

Smashwords

You might have heard of Smashwords.com, but you may not know what it is, or why you should care. Never fear, I’m here to tell you!

For Readers:

Smashwords has an extensive selection of ebooks with authors whose experiences are as varied as their works. Available Ebook categories include Adventure, Children’s books, Drama,Erotica, Fantasy, Humor, Horror, Romance, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, Biographies, Reference books, Inspiration, Parenting and more.  with a Vampire)

Aside from variety Smashwords is also a good place to find eBook deals. Many books (like my Shades of Gray and 101 Tips for Traveling with a Vampire) are available to “set your own price”, meaning you pay exactly what you think the book is worth.  And, for the frugal shopper, there’s a huge variety of free reads.

But, I think the absolute best thing about Smashwords are the multiple file types. eBooks are available as

Most smashwords books are also available at iTunes, kobobooks.com, barnesandnoble.com, among others, however, the set your own price does not apply on third party sites like those.

For Authors:

To start with, Smashwords is free, and, as I mentioned above, it automatically turns your uploaded document into several different formats, so that nearly every eReader on the planet can open it.  And, if your document passes the formatting standards for Premium catalog inclusion, you can opt in for distribution through other sites. Current distributors are Kobo, Barnes and Noble, Apple, Amazon, Sony and Diesel.  Or, if you prefer, you can opt out of any, or all, distributors. For instance if you use Amazon’s dtp service you may want to opt out of Kindle, or if you use Barnes and Noble’s new publishing service you may want to opt out of them.

Smashwords doesn’t do any advertising for you; they’re a distributor and YOU are the publisher. You own all the rights and you can simultaneously publish with as many other companies or POD’s (print on demand) as you like. You can also take your book off the market whenever you want without breaking a contract. Smashwords also allows you to update your files (both your cover file and your interior files) as many times as you need to.

If you want to know more, check out Smashwords.com, or stop by their FAQ page.

And, here’s a really cool video that will probably explain things much better than I ever could!

Legacy of Ghosts Available on Smashwords for $1.60(cheap)

$1.60 (cheap!)

Quoting a little MAD Magazine there. If you’re not a MAD fan, they always put “cheap” under the price on the cover, even though it isn’t cheap anymore. (I read far too many MADs in my youth)

Back on topic: Legacy of Ghosts is now live on Smashwords.

If you’re not familiar with Smashwords, they are an eBook distributor, and by eBook I don’t just mean Kindle or Epub (though you can get those, too.) They also have online reading as either Java or HTML, PDF,  RTF (rich text – aka a document), plain text (think notepad), and LRF (for Sony Reader), as well as the Epub (for Stanza and others) and Mobi for Kindle.

Wow. I’m worn out just listing them all.

Anyway, if you do the Kindle, or the PC thing, a even a PDF on your phone (I actually did that with Stephannie Beman’s novel My Lord Hades) or whatever, go and get your copy now.  If you prefer to go through Amazon for your Kindle versions, then it should be up in a day or two (it’s in the system, now), and the Paperback will follow on the 8th.

If you want a sample, I have the first two chapters on this site, and the third is nearly complete, as well, or you can view the first 20% of the book at Smashwords; so you get to “try before you buy”.

And, if you missed the first book in the series, Shades of Gray, it is still available on Smashwords under the “set your own price” option, which means you pay only what it’s worth to you.
